Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme Sponsorship
Enlighten Designs is proud to be a sponsor of the
Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme in the Waikato with the Enlighten Designs Award for Innovation in Information Technology.
The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise Scheme is administered in New
Zealand by Young Enterprise Trust. It is a learning experience for
young people, teachers and business people in which senior secondary
school students form a company, become directors and develop products
and services, which they market and sell. YES is school based and
teaches skills in budgeting, planning, interpersonal relations,
decision making, reporting, communications, risk management and
teamwork.
The Enlighten Designs Award for Innovation in Information Technology
will recognise the group who push the boundaries in using Information
Technology to deliver their products and services. In the environment of rapid commoditisation and price competition, innovation is the key to driving competitive advantage. Innovative Information Technology plays a key role in gaining increased productivity, operational, marketing and sales performance in any organisation. Enlighten Designs is excited to have the
opportunity to encourage the young people in our community gain the
skills needed to leverage technology in building a successful business
The young enterprisers add value to school based knowledge while
learning how to run a business. A "can do" attitude and learning to
manage risks is a must. The scheme is supported at the local level by
Regional Coordinators, who, during the year find business mentors for
each company, arrange directors' seminars, trade fairs, oral and end of
year presentations, and teacher/mentor training.
Nati Award Sponsor at Te Rangitawaea Festival 2009
Enlighten Designs is pleased to support the premiere ICT event - Te Rangitawaea Festival 2009. Enlighten has sponsored the junior digital photo prize for the Nati awards.
Te Rangitawaea Festival is created to showcase the creative and innovative digital media achievements of Ngati Porou/East Coast students. All 18 primary and secondary schools have participated in the festival. This year the festival was held on Wednesday 16th of September in Ruatoria. Once again the programme has included the successful ICT Expo, ICT Challenge and the glamorous Nati Awards ceremony.
Our sponsorship for the Nati awards helps all Ngati Porou East Coast Schools, from Potaka in the North to Waikirikiri in the south achieve the following objectives:
• Overcoming the region's perceived isolation
• Providing learning and professional development opportunities through distance learning for students and teachers
• Bridging geographical distance and enabling schools and teachers in the region to work collaboratively in terms of planning and delivery of learning
• Providing access to new tools and digital resources that could enhance learning outcomes
