Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (TWoA) is one of New Zealand's largest tertiary education providers. Operating from over 80 locations throughout the country, they provide a unique learning environment.

TWoA came to Enlighten with a new challenge – to develop a site that could effectively support their Tau Ora staff wellness programme.

Enlighten Designs' solution was an online team -based web application. The site allows for teams of five (one team captain and four team members) to sign up and track their daily steps and to show their progress pre-defined track around islands in the South Pacific. Progress is mapped on integrated Bing Maps. The solution also provides individual, team and overall performance statistics with realtime reporting dashboards. 

Registered teams of five TWoA staff members enter their pedometer steps daily, and their progress is graphically presented on Google maps through a predefined route around New Zealand.

The site has been a resounding success, delivering above and beyond what Te Wananga o Aotearoa had hoped. It now forms part of TWoA’s annual staff wellness programme which is being run and extended annually.
