In mid 2007 Enlighten Designs was asked by Neil Rundle, one of the founders and directors of
Mainstay NZ to meet and discuss their current website.
Mainstay works with privately owned businesses between $1 million and $50 million in value, in a step by step process to design and implement succession strategies.
The previous Mainstay website had become out-of-date and did not present the organisation as a corporate company with a wealth of experience and expertise in succession planning. Furthermore, a recent radio and print advertising campaign had increased interest in the Mainstay website but had not yielded the results they were hoping for. Though the traffic to the site had increased, there was no increase in the number of client contacts coming from the site.
The previous website was difficult to navigate, looked un-professional and generally did not inspire the credibility expected of an organisation such as Mainstay.
To address these issues, the website design, navigation structure, and website content needed an overhaul to create a more effective and credible online presence.
The Solution

Before any work was started on the redevelopment of the Mainstay website, Enlighten Designs had a meeting with Mainstay staff to discuss their expectations, objectives, and design specifications.
Enlighten Designs requested copies of all their current branding items, including brochures, letterheads, current advertising etc to ensure the Mainstay brand was maintained while also revitalising the website's design.
Enlighten Designs also requested Mainstay provide as much content as possible – notes, bullet points, and draft content was all acceptable. The objective was to not develop a perfect final copy of the website content at this point but instead to organise and structure the content to ensure the navigation and information structures in the final site were logical, intuitive and most importantly effective.
Reviewed website content and suggested navigation structures were sent to Mainstay for review and approval. Once the content and navigation structure for the website was finalised, Enlighten Designs moved into the website design draft phase where the new website designs were presented to Mainstay for approval.
Once a design draft was selected and the completed website design was approved by Mainstay, the website pages were implemented into the Vadmin 3.0 Content Management System. The revised website content was also added to this system and can now be easily maintained by Mainstay in future.
The Result
The result of the redevelopment of the Mainstay NZ website is a very professional and good looking site that gives Mainstay a credible online presence within their industry. The new Mainstay website is targeted to the correct market level in terms of design and content. It is also easy to navigate to rich and educated information with the new navigation menu structure.
The Mainstay NZ website was out-of-date and did not present our organization as we felt it should. We approached Enlighten to do a complete overhaul of the site to create a more effective and credible online presence. We were very pleased with the way that Enlighten picked up on our requirements and translated them in a painless manner.
