Background

One thing that we’ve heard at Enlighten time and time again is how difficult customers find it to offer a relevant and repeatable customer experience. Our customers’ customers have very different experiences, with some of those interactions being very negative. 

The problem of inconsistent customer experiences leads to other issues. When a company can’t offer a consistent customer experience, it has a hard time finding new customers, difficulty keeping current clients, more challenges competing on the global stage, and lower profitability. 

The Technological Inspiration 

To provide more insight into how the Sitecore-on-Azure solution came into being, it helps to understand what’s been going on with Microsoft. In recent years, Microsoft’s partner ecosystem has changed for the better. Under Satya Nadella’s leadership, the company is flourishing. Additionally, Gavriella Schuster’s introduction of the One Commercial Partner program truly enables partner success. 

After the Inspire 2018 conference, the Enlighten team committed to investing in Microsoft. We’ve pledged to drive our revenue growth exclusively through co-selling and joint go-to-market activities that were digitally transformative for our customers. Enlighten’s customer-centric and design mindset prompted us to develop unique products that shape and curate the transformation of our clients. The Sitecore-on-Azure product was the result. 

The Marketing Vertical Solution

In 2018, Sitecore was the top Australian Microsoft partner, thanks to the number of deals as well as the amount of Azure-consumed revenue. Enlighten realised that there was an opportunity to replicate this solution in New Zealand. However, we would do it differently; we’d run the product exclusively on Azure. 

If you’re not familiar with Sitecore, it’s a .NET content management system, an ecommerce engine, and a digital marketing platform. For the past ten years, Sitecore has been a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience platforms thanks to its popularisation of the concept of context marketing. 

To that end, Enlighten set out to solidify our position as New Zealand’s premier Sitecore Partner. In 2018, we announced that we became Sitecore Gold Partners. We’ve also developed several pieces of intellectual property to differentiate our solution in the market (which also helps our clients take greater advantage of emerging revenue opportunities).  

The Sitecore-Microsoft Integration

Integrating Sitecore and Microsoft Azure makes each solution better. This integration boosts the capabilities of both platforms by maximising data, helping users understand their customers more deeply, and making user marketing more effective. 

Enlighten created two customised tools to enhance the features of Sitecore and make it more relevant to a Microsoft-specific audience: Contacto and JourneyScore.

Contacto

Contacto is an automated contact harvesting tool. It solves the problem of customer data integrity. Accurate customer data is crucial in sales and marketing; without it, you can’t properly engage prospects or customers, which leads to missed revenue. 

Many companies rely upon sales teams to enter information about prospects. However, these teams often don’t input details correctly, which causes the situation described above. Contacto solves this issue by automatically generating a contact within the solution every time a new email address engages with the organisation. 

JourneyScore

JourneyScore tracks customer satisfaction. Since its creation, JourneyScore has yielded significant business results for users. 

This tool automates the sending of a Net Promoter Score survey to a randomised selection of customer contacts. That’s a much truer measure of customer satisfaction; there’s no bias among survey participants. Instead, they’re selected by an algorithm that weights various customer engagement activities such as meetings and emails. Enlighten customers who have used JourneyScore report saving thousands of dollars because they catch issues much earlier than ever before and address them faster.

Incredible Customer Success Stories in 2019

The Sitecore-Azure integration has yielded some fantastic customer success stories for Enlighten in the past year. The integration fills a unique niche for customers; they previously didn’t have a solution that managed content, automated digital marketing, or provided any meaningful support for e-commerce initiatives. 

One of the customer success stories comes from Te Wananga o Aotearoa, an organisation dedicated to providing holistic education throughout New Zealand. Transitioning their website to Sitecore enabled them to improve the customer experience by personalising the website’s interactions. There was an increase in enrollment thanks to better marketing, as well as improved student engagement due to tailored course recommendations through Sitecore Cortex’s AI capabilities and an intelligent personalisation rule. 

Another success story comes from Gallagher, an animal management services firm. They’re using the latest digital and customer engagement tools to educate farmers on grazing management and to grow the market for Gallagher-branded solutions. Azure data lakes, Power BI analytics, and modern data warehousing are transforming this 80-year-old company. 

The Microsoft NZ Partner Award

On September 16, 2019, Microsoft announced the finalists for its NZ Partner Award. Enlighten was nominated for its work with the Sitecore-Azure integration in the ‘Transforming Products’ category. This category recognises Microsoft partners who have reinvented products, services and business models using digital content to capitalise on emerging revenue opportunities.

Microsoft announced Enlighten Designs winners of this award on October 17 in Auckland. This and our Cloud for Good award are recognising the solutions managed, designed, built and implemented by our incredible team here at Enlighten. They represent the drive for excellence and dedication to building beautiful digital solutions.
